A rhetoric that commonly surrounds anti-lgbt content and personalities is the idea that their existence is of existential threat and danger to children. I have found that this is just one of the reasons we give ourselves to justify the dehumanization of those we consider "other". Homosexuality is a sin, but sins are still committed by humans.
